Pyron’s Inc. was first established 60 years ago by the Ruby Nell and the late George Pyron in 1955. The first store was in the Somerset area, and Pyron’s was a grocery store back then. By 1982, they operated 8 grocery stores in Bexar and Atascosa Counties, and they sold out their grocery stores to Super S.
Pyron’s operated several different variety stores in the area after that, before coming to Lytle 8 years ago. Fabric and quilting soon became their biggest products, and they have the largest variety of fabrics and sewing/quilting supplies in the area.
Pyron’s is still owned and operated by the Pyron family. While they are shutting down their Lytle shop, descendants of the Pyron family will soon be re-opening their store as The Quilt Shop in Castroville.
